The Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) has transformed its approach to school inspection to make the process fairer, more transparent, and focused on genuine school improvement. The new framework emphasises professional dialogue, context, and the use of schools’ existing documentation—removing unnecessary workload and single-statement judgements.
For teachers, this means a more collaborative inspection experience, with opportunities such as the Joint Planning Day, clear five core questions, and reports that provide bespoke conclusions reflecting the uniqueness of each school.
