About this course
Equality law in Northern Ireland works differently from the rest of the United Kingdom. Rather than a single Equality Act, protection sits across a series of separate Orders, alongside the Section 75 duties that apply to public bodies including schools.
This joint UTU, INTO and NEU course focuses squarely on teachers as employees and covers the significant change in May 2024, when the teachers' exception under the Fair Employment and Treatment Order was revoked.

The May 2024 revocation of the teachers' exception under FETO
Getting in and getting on: recruitment, promotion, pay and fair employment monitoring
Staying in work: reasonable adjustments, absence, capability and workload
Family responsibilities, carers and flexible working
Harassment, including harassment by third parties, and how to raise it
Who should attend
School and safety representatives, and any member with an interest in workplace equality. No legal background is needed.
