Membership Services

Legal Service
The UTU Legal Service assists members individually in any difficulties with School Managers, Governors, Inspectors, Education and Library Boards, the Council for Catholic Maintained Schools, Department of Education or parents. It affords members help at law if prosecuted or otherwise wronged or injured in the course of their professional duties.

Professional Insurance
The Union covers you with Public Liability Insurance which will cover any claim settled on you by the courts as a result of professional activities.

Death Grant
The next of kin of a member under compulsory retirement age who dies in service will receive immediate payment of a death grant of £1,000, this is in addition to any benefit due under Personal Insurance above.

Damage to Members' Cars
The Union provides an insurance cover (at present a maximum of £100) against malicious damage to members' cars parked on school grounds.

Personal Property
Personal property and money belonging to members of the UTU are insured against loss or damage by fire or theft whilst on school premises, subject to a limit of £100 (property) and £50 (cash).

Benevolent Fund
This fund exists to afford assistance in proven cases of hardship.
