Induction and EPD

C. E. P.

You will leave college with a Career Entry Profile (C. E. P.) based on your strengths and priorities for further professional development.

Programme

The professional development of beginning teachers is a 3- year programme.

Year 1 - Induction

During the Induction Year you will have guidance from within your school and from your Education and Library Board

In consultation with your Teacher Tutor you will draw up agreed action plans which take account of the issues identified in your C. E. P. Your progress will be monitored in your school and you will receive interim and summative reports.

The school will relay to the Board of Governors your successful completion of induction.

Year 2/3 Early Professional Development

Aim of E.P.D. The aim of E.P.D. is to continue your development as a reflective practitioner. You will be required to carry out 2 professional development activities over 2 years. These will both focus on teaching and learning with the inclusion of Educational Technology to support learning.

Completion

When you and your Teacher Tutor are satisfied that all criteria have been met, formal endorsement will be sought from the Principal and the Board of Governors.

Help is there if and when you need it.

Education and Library Boards offer guidance and support to all Beginning Teachers.

If you are in your first year after graduating but not in long-term employment register with the Education and Library Board in your area for guidance on induction.

All Beginning Teachers are eligible to attend Board courses in induction even if a teaching appointment has not been secured.
